Driving back from dropping off my daughter at college this weekend I consoled myself listening to a couple of cds of Buck Owens that I checked out from the library. My friend Mark had highly recommended Dwight Yoakam’s album Dwight Singing Buck. At the same time I had checked out an album of Buck Owen’s Greatest Hits. I had both cds in the car with me. Dwight is good… but I prefer the original.
The Beatles covered “Act Naturally” in 1965, two years after Owens released it, making it the first song to become a hit on both the Billboard country music and Top 40 pop charts.
On the last Monday in August, I am feeling nostalgic. Nothing makes me feel as nostalgic as classic country music.
