One of the many things I love about country music is the “mash up” of the sacred and the profane. Gospel music played right alongside of songs about drinking and cheating… even in concerts and bars.
There are some I suppose who would see this as hypocrisy… others who would see this as form of marketing to the unenlightened, white-trash, Evangelical masses that make up the traditional country music market. I prefer to see it as real… the sacred and the profane, tragedy and hope.
On a beautiful Monday, here is a song we usually on hear only on Good Friday sung by one of the most distinctive voices in the history of American music.
