On Silence

Silent Garden

The first signs of fall have arrived in the North Country. Some sumac leaves are already turning red and  the wildflowers that are blooming are predominantly shades of yellow and gold. Our short summer is over. It is time to begin writing again.

in the silence
between words
worlds wait
empires rise and fall
great loves burn
and fade away

O for silence
like a winter day
