Why Baseball, Books, and the Grateful Dead matter

Long Time, No Blog

Sometime before Covid, after blogging on several different sites for more than 10 years, I wrote what I believed at the time to be my very last blog post. I closed my laptop, let the domain I had go, and started working on other “projects.”

Recently though, like a phantom limb, I have been feeling the itch to blog again. And so here I am, resurrecting my penultimate blogging domain, ClimbingSky.

As a blog-reader, the sites I return to regularly are usually focused around just one or two themes. They are about things I am interested in generally or at a certain moment in time: 1950s& 60s paperbacks, or fly fishing, or horror books, or Major League Baseball, etc.

While each time I have created a new blog, I may have mapped out in my mind what I wanted the focus of my new world-facing presence to be, inevitably I found myself quickly veering in a variety of other directions. Quickly disrupting the original focus of my new blog. This time I am not even going to pretend to try.

I am eclectic. I like a lot of different things. I am also given to periods of hyper-focused tangents. No doubt this blog will reflect that. Broadly speaking though, I think most of what you will end up finding here can be shoe-horned loosely (very loosely, no doubt) into these three categories: baseball, books, and beer.

I hope you enjoy!
