Why Baseball, Books, and the Grateful Dead matter

Processing the Unprocessable

I think I have mentioned here before that I have learned that I need time to internally process things before I write about them.

Is two weeks enough time to try to process what is unprossessable? Two months? Two decades?

I remain convinced that the purpose of government is to protect the weak from the powerful and the poor from the rich that will always distort systems to take advantage of them.

I also remain convinced that we are on a trajectory of progress as a species. That at some point we will finally get things right.

There is a lot of Monday-morning quarterbacking going on. A lot of people pointing to where the Democratic Party and Progressives have missed the mark and failed.

In the meantime, I have done what I did when the Madness first began 12 years ago. I have removed myself from the 24-hour news cycle. I have deleted MPR News again from my car radio. On my way to and fro from work, I listen to Classical Music, Jazz, and the Grateful Dead.

It takes me a long time to process things. So I know it will take a very long time for me to process this, the unprocessable.

One thing I do know: I have faith that ultimately my neighbors who do not look like me will figure out how to fix this world that my fellow white, heterosexual males have so badly messed up.
