Believe it or not, this blog posting for the first Saturday of March 2025 is actually being written on December 23rd, 2024. That is how far ahead I am working now on ClimbingSky.
I am not certain if that is a good thing or a bad thing from a reader’s point of view. But for me as the writer it works well because it creates a buffer for future dry spells which I assume are coming.
The other buffer I have against inevitable dry spells include: 650+ blog posts from previous blogs; hundreds of poetic drafts; and dozens of short stories. And, of course, there is 125+ years of baseball history to fill pages and posts.
As I move into my mid-sixties, I am mindful of the accumulation of experiences and blessings I have been fortunate enough to have received. It is cliche to say, but nonetheless quite true, I am indeed blessed.
Between the time I write these words and the time you read them, months will have passed. A man who should never have been given keys to even an empty room is president again. So who knows what has happened.
Nonetheless, I know today what I am sure I will know three months from now: that baseball, books, and coffee matter.
