On July 1st, 1951, Bob Feller pitched the third no-hitter of his career, tying the record of Cy Young and Larry Corcoran, as he beat Detroit’s Bob Cain 2-1.

Hall of Famer Bob Feller began pitching in the Major Leagues for Cleveland while still a high school student in Van Meter, Iowa. He was considered one of the hardest throwers of his era. He finished his career with 266 Wins.
Van Meter, Iowa, is a small town of about 1,400 residents near Des Moines. Attached to the post office in Van Meter is a small museum dedicated to Bob Feller.
And since Van Meter is quite near Winterset, Iowa (the birthplace of John Wayne), road-trippers can easily visit both the Bob Feller Museum and the John Wayne Museum in a single afternoon. And still get in a Triple-A Iowa Cubs game in that same evening!
The Bob Feller Museum collection contains a number of items from Feller’s stellar career and is worth a visit for any true baseball fan. I highly recommend it!
