Today, August 16th marks the opening weekend of the Premier League’s 25-26 season. This means, Peacock willing, I am watching Fulham at Brighton at 9:00AM Central Standard Time.

Over my soccer watching career, I have tried to claim as my own various teams: Newcastle, Swansea, Real Madrid, den Haag, Koln, and a few others. In the end it was Fulham that I fell in love with. I began following them on a weekly basis while they were still in the Championship League (Britain’s second-tier division). It ended up being a year that saw them re-promoted again to the PL It was a magical year and my interest has stuck.

I listen weekly to a Fulham fan podcast called Fulhamish, even when I am not watching games. Fulhamish is, by the way, the best and most consistently enjoyable podcast I have ever listened to.

Last year the “lads”f rom SW6 finished mid-table. Comfortably free of the Relegation Zone. And from what I read, the Cottager’s should mid-table again this season.

Here are some pictures from my visit in 2022 to Craven Cottage (Fulham’s historic old venue) and finally the 2025/26 schedule. If you are looking for an underdog team to root for, I highly recommend Fulham.
