Why Baseball, Books, and the Grateful Dead matter

It Ain’t Rocket Science

This week four teams have been competing in the NLCS and ALCS. So far, this baseball fan has only gotten to see one of the games. That’s right, just one.

And why is that? Because even though I have a number of subscriptions to streaming services, including MLB.TV, all but one of the games have been aired on services I do not get.

Let’s play a game. Let’s pretend that you are one of the one-percenters who have lucked into becoming one of the next caretakers of something precious that was once universally understood to be “The National Pastime.”

Now, would your strategy be to make your games as difficult as possible for your fans to follow? Or would you make sure that as many people as possible had the opportunity to watch your games? Especially the playoffs?

I know what I would do.

How about you?

Again, business ruins everything.
